Wesley Camp / Veslija Nometne

You are always welcome at WESLEY CAMP & RETREAT CENTER!

We're open to all Christian groups who seek spiritual growth and renewal in their lives. Our international camp is a place for making disciples of Jesus Christ in a beautiful outdoor setting on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Our leadership team is focused on helping each person to grow closer to God and to develop a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ. We call this place, "Holy Ground."

You are welcome to bring your church group to use our facilities. Wesley Camp and Retreat Center offers a unique opportunity for Christian growth at every stage in life: as children, as teenagers and as adults. We have week long camping events during the summer designed especially for large groups of children and youth. And during Winter, Fall and Spring, we offer three day weekend retreats designed for smaller groups from local congregations.

We encourage you to have a church retreat once a year. We would be honored to be your hosts. The purpose of a retreat is for church members to get away from the typical Sunday routine and spend time together in a quiet setting for prayer, singing, worship, sharing, listening to God and growing closer together as the body of Christ.

We follow John Wesley's Rule: "Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can."

Please contact us for more information!

Wesley Camp & Retreat Center is owned and operated by the United Methodist Church

Our Story / Par Mums

Wesley Camp & Retreat Center has been made possible through the prayers and support of United Methodists in Latvia, Lithuania, USA and Europe.

After many years of having camp meetings in different places across Latvia and Lithuania, God provided "holy ground" on the shores of the Baltic Sea near Liepaja for Wesley Camp & Retreat Center.  With the help of partners from abroad, the dream of a camp became a reality. The North Alabama Conference, USA purchased the land on December 14, 2004 and presented it as a gift to the United Methodist Church in Latvia. They sent teams and provided leadership for the establishment of the ministry.  Other conferences, churches and individuals from around the world joined in the project and gave generously to renovate the buildings including the Red Bird Missionary Conference, USA, the Holston Conference, USA, the United Methodist Church in Denmark and churches of the Northern Europe Central Conference.  A shared partnership has developed with brothers and sisters in Christ  in the United Methodist Church in Lithuania for the management of the camp.

Wesley Camp & Retreat Center is an international facility where disciples of Jesus Christ grow in faith!

Our Camp

Come and See!  The facilities of the camp are improving all the time.  We have "talka" events throughout the year with volunteers from across Latvia and Lithuania giving their time and resources to make the camp a more beautiful place for all.   Recently new restrooms and showers were added in the Alabama building, a new floor and lighting system in the Holston House and a new basketball court was built on the field.  Through working together as a family, we see God is using us as His hands and feet, the body of Christ.

Eph. 3:14-15- we are all one family in heaven and on earth, united together, as children of the Father, through Jesus Christ. Our brothers and sisters who have gone to heaven before us are not a different family. We are one and the same family.

You are warmly invited to join us!

If you we like to come and see Wesley Camp & Retreat Center, please feel free to contact us.

A message from the Construction Coordinator

Romans Budniks
Romans Budniks
My name is Romans Budniks. I am from Latvia.  The camp was purchased in December of 2004, but active work started from May 2005. Before there was a farm hose, its name Latvian is “Lejnieki”, that means “place, which is low”, and it was really low. And now our task is to rise up everything. I want to say thank you to all who helped to build and showed interest about the Wesley camp, especially the North Alabama Conference, the Holston Conference and the Red Bird mission conference.

Wesley Camp & Retreat Center is located in the SW of Latvia near Liepaja town and it takes only 20 min to drive from church in Liepaja. Also it is not far from other congregations of the region. For example, it is possible to reach Matras church in 20 min, Tasi in 30 min and Kuldiga in 1 hour. This location allows as organizing voluntary working days, which is very important. Also the Wesley camp is located near the sea only 15 min to walk. Camp is only 1 hour drive from Lithuania border, which means that also for Lithuanians is not far to came. And we had 3 work groups last year from Lithuania and I want to say them thanks for help, they were well organized. And finally, the Wesley Camp is only in 3 hours drive from Riga international airport that means we are close enough for the ret of the world.
